Hello World!

Welcome to Gen X Reflects!

A place for art, memory, and meaning — where stories grow from reflection.

Hello, friends:

Welcome to Gen X Reflects, a space I created to breathe, remember, and reimagine.

I’m a former Broadway actress, musical theatre professor, and writer who has lived a life in song, story, and survival. My roots are rock-and-roll and footlights, forged in performance, storytelling, and the rhythm of truth. Now, as a Gen X woman in her 50s, I’m turning that same creative energy toward reflection, about art, womanhood, motherhood, and the search for peace in a noisy world.

I’m also the proud mother of two incredible daughters.
One is a rising star, an artist who auditions, performs, and pours her heart into every note. The other is my beautiful autistic teen, whose courage and strength remind me daily that independence comes in many forms. I fight fiercely to help her grow, learn, and find function and freedom, even on the days when she needs help and constant prompting.

This blog is where all of that collides, Broadway grit meets Gen X heart, creative reinvention meets motherhood’s truth, and personal reflection meets a larger search for meaning in a divided, rapidly changing world.

Expect stories about music, art, identity, and resilience.
Essays about raising daughters in a digital era.
Reflections on love, loss, creativity, and the moments that shape who we become.

If you’re a kindred spirit, an artist, a parent, or simply someone searching for connection and calm in the chaos, you’re home here.

Welcome to Gen X Reflects.
Let’s listen, learn, and imagine together.

With gratitude and light,
Julie Danao-Salkin
